WebNov 4, 2010 · AZ Jeff. If you are going to flush with corrosive chemicals, I would NOT use muriatic acid. I would use VINEGAR (acetic acid). It's far less "aggressive". It would be pretty bad to see your heater core have a hole eaten through it, and have muriatic acid running out of the heater box onto the carpet and floor pan. WebFeb 1, 2015 · chris142. You have to clean out the debris (i.e., leaves, etc.) from the outside of the core (i.e., the part that the fan blows across to get the air into your cabin). It's an easy job. Under the hood, you have to remove the battery and the ECM module and then the blower motor casing to get to it and clean it out.
